Surely There Can’t Be Drugs In Your Drinking Water?

Is it possible that there are drugs in your drinking water? Surely it’s not possible that when you drink a glass of water you’re drinking drugs? Lets take a look at the possibility that there are drugs in drinking water in the US.

Lets start with a quote from the Ralph Nader Institute. “U.S. drinking water contains more than 2,100 toxic chemicals that can cause cancer.”

Now what does toxic chemicals mean? Does it mean drugs? Either way it doesn’t matter, it’s scary. But there is plenty of evidence of drugs in our drinking water. Especially antibiotics.

As strange as it may seem there is evidence of drugs in drinking water from’99 from a West Virginian high school student. Her name is Ashley Mulroy and she decided to do a high school project on contaminated drinking water. She took water samples from the Ohio river and tested for 3 different antibiotics (penicillin, tetracycline and vancomycin). She did this for 10 weeks and found them in all samples.

So she decided maybe it was a good idea to test tap water for the same antibiotics. Same result.

Lets take a quote from the Environmental Health Perspectives website. “Roughly 100 pharmaceuticals have now been identified in rivers, lakes, and coastal waters throughout Europe and the United States.”

Why not have a look now at a quote from the website of MSNBC. “Traces of 56 human and veterinary pharmaceuticals or their byproducts ” like the active ingredients in medicines for pain, infection, high cholesterol, asthma, epilepsy, mental illness and heart problems ” have been detected in Philadelphias drinking water.”

How about from USA today? “A vast array of pharmaceuticals ” including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones ” have been found in the drinking water supplies of at least 41 million Americans, an Associated Press investigation shows.”

There are municipal standards that require testing for germs and removal of germs from our municipal drinking water before it is allowed for public use, so it’s safe. But there is no requirement that water for public use be free from drugs.

So reading all those quotes you can see the point. There are drugs in our drinking water. But what are the risks of drinking unfiltered water that has drugs in it?

Who knows the risks, I don’t?

There is no clear evidence, but we seem all to be a part of a huge experiment on drinking small amounts of pharmaceuticals each day.

You need to protect yourself and your family. Drink pure water to protect yourselves from drinking water contaminated with pharmaceuticals.

Now contrary to what you believe bottled water isn’t pure, much of it is as bad as or worse than tap water. Some is tap water.

But if there are those 2100 toxic chemicals (according to the Ralph Nader Institute) in the water you drink (and shower in and cook in), there are ways to purify your water.

But only the worlds very best water filters are good enough to remove such hazards as drugs in drinking water, or hormones, or lead, or pesticides, or herbicides or, well I think you get the picture. So get yourself the best water filter that modern technology can produce and be safe from those drugs found in drinking water that you may be using now.
