Currently, the majority of people rent movies at least a few times a month. Often we all wait to rent the box office hits, as an alternative to going to the theater. Here is a short list of some of the most popular DVD rentals in October 2008.
INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL: Indiana is back in action, after a 19 year hiatus. This is the fourth movie of the exploits of the infamous Indiana Jones. In this episode an older Indiana takes on the Russians. This time, it’s off top the amazone to search for some South American relics, which are thought to have secret powers.
THE LAZARUS PROJECT: Former criminal Ben Garvey is a new man now. With a beauitiful wife and daughter, and a good job, he seems to have found a better life. Then, he is fired from work, and he goes back to his old criminalistic ways. This goes terribly wrong, and he is convicted, and sentenced to die. He is sent to die. Incredibly, he isn’t dead, but is in a psych ward. He now struggles for his sanity, and his soul.
LINEWATCH: Michael Dixon (Cuba Gooding Jr.) is a respected boarder agent in New Mexico, and life seems to be good. Eventually, his past is going to catch up with him. A long time ago, he was in a violent Los Angeles gang, that he somehow got away from. When an unfortunate meeting gives away his location to his old gang, he and his family are put in grave danger. He nust put it all on the line, and work with the gang to bring a big drug shipment across the border.
THE INCREDIBLE HULK: This movie tells the tale of Scientist Dr. Bruce Banner, who is now, due to a military accident, has become the Incredible Hulk. This film is about the marvel comic character the green Hulk. Edward Norton, Tim Roth, William hurt, all have roles in this film. This film is directed by Louis Leterrier. This movie would be classified as a science fiction film.
DECEPTION: Jonathan McQuarry (ewan mcgregor) has a chance encounter with big time corporate lawyer Wyatt Bose. This chance meeting is one that turns his life upside down. He is introduced to “The List”, which puts you in front of involvement in a sexual pleasures. However, he is driven into a world of betrayal, treachery and death.
JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH: On a mission to discover what happened to his missing brother, a science professor travels to Iceland that sends him into the depths of our planet. This is a new version of the 1959 production, which was about the classic novel by Jules Verne. Directed by eric brevig, and starring Brendan Fraser.
THE HAPPENING: Science teacher Elliot Moore, with his wife and many other frightened people are leaving Philadelphia by train. The northeastern U.S. has been thrown into chaos. People have been overwhelmed by some strange illness, and are taking their own lives. Can we overcome this problem, or are we witnessing the final acts of the human race?
IRON MAN: Super stud, engineering expert, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is taken hostage by Afghan fighters. They command him to create weapon systems for the insurgent group. He was hurt while he was being captured, and has shrapnel stuck in his chest. To overcome his wound, and make his get away, he develops a suit of armor, that makes him super strong. Iron Man is born.
SPEED RACER: An anime-cartoon gets real actors. Much like the film The Flinstones, Speed Racer is an animation changed to a movie with an actual cast. Young Speed Racer who loves racing. His goal is to win The Crucible, a major rally car race that his older brother had died racing in. Against the odds, and the family business on the line, he suprisingly teams up with his enemy of the past, Racer X, in an effort to capture the championship, and keep his families racing business alive.
